The HAGOPUR scent fence® is a product developed in collaboration with the ADAC to reduce or prevent accidents with wild animals on roads.
The foam can be used with both the proven dosing device and the included adapter.
Duftzaun® has been used in Germany since 1990 and has become an integral part of many road sections as a measure to reduce accidents involving roe deer. There are also very positive results with wild boar. This system is also used on numerous roads in Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Spain with equal success.
In Germany, around 30,000 km of roads have already been equipped with scent fence®. The result is an average reduction in wildlife accidents of 76%; in individual cases even up to 100% in the appropriately protected areas.
Mode of action
Duftzaun® is based on a special foam that is used in accident hotspots. When exposed to UV radiation, the fine pores contained in the foam open, which release the scent - a composition of odor components of Wolf, lynx, bear and human – release.
The sensitizing effect of the Scent Fence® is based on the interaction of the scent cocktail, street noise and vehicle movement.
Application
Scent Fence® can be easily set up by attaching foam deposits along the at-risk roads or road sections (accident blackspots) to posts, road boundaries or trees. Once applied, the foam depot can withstand the weather for up to 5 years.
During breaks/interruptions in work, secure the dosing device or close the adapter.
The adapter can be easily closed by bending the capillary tube and pushing the end upwards into the “nose” provided.
For the scent fence to have an optimal effect, it is important to create a continuous scent barrier between the street and the forest or meadow. Therefore, attach the foam depots at intervals of approx. 5 meters parallel to the edge of the road on wooden pegs or trees in 2 staggered rows.
One can of Duftzaun® foam contains approx. 45 liters of foam. This corresponds to approximately 200 tennis ball-sized foam balls. With one can of Duftzaun® foam, approx. 500m of distance can be protected.
To maintain effectiveness, the foam depots must be re-inoculated with scent fence concentrate at least twice a year.
